Medical & Construction Mission Trips
Being the hands and feet of God in a hurting world sometimes means stepping outside of our comfort zones to serve the last and least in often forgotten corners of the world. Since 2010, members of Carrier Mills First United Methodist Church have taken part in annual construction mission trips to help build a security fence around the Children of Destiny's orphanage in Los Cedros, Nicaragua. Teams from the church usually spend the last week of January at the orphanage working alongside volunteers from elsewhere in the United States.
A member of the CMFUMC congregation recently served as the Pharmacist on a Medical Mission to Honduras. This mission was a multi-church effort designed to bring medical care and other human services to the sick and needy in one area of this violence and poverty plagued Central American country. The church hopes to serve on other Medical Missions in Central America in the future.
