New Member Orientation Class

Once you've decided that you want to enjoy a deeper fellowship with the Lord through membership in Carrier Mills First United Methodist Church, you are invited to attend a New Member Orientation Class. This casual and relaxed class offers a broad overview of the history of the United Methodist Church and its founder, John Wesley.  It also explores the church's beliefs, sacraments and practices.  You will have the opportunity to ask questions and discover some of the many meaningful ways you can use your time and talents to honor God and help realize His Kingdom in the here and now.  Finally, you will have the chance to meet one-on-one with Reverend Stan Irvin so that you and Stan can become better acquainted, and he can answer any questions that weren't addressed in class.

Baptism.  If you or your children have never been baptized, Stan will help you to to prepare for the sacrament of baptism.  Through Christian baptism, God claims us with divine grace, whatever our age or ability to profess our faith.

Reaffirmation of Baptism.  If you were baptized as an infant or young child and have not made a profession of faith and been confirmed, then you will prepare to reaffirm your baptism when you take the membership vows.

Transfer of Membership.  If you are a member of another part of the church (such as Baptist, Presbyterian or Lutheran), then you can transfer your membership from that church to Carrier Mills First United Methodist Church.

Profession of Faith.  If you are a member of another Christian church that does not transfer membership, you can make a profession of faith and be received as a member.
